Publishing and Book Distribution: 70th Frankfurt Book Fair is opening

The 70th Frankfurt Book Fair is running in Germany October 10 - 14, 2018. By tradition, Russia’s program at Frankfurt Book Fair this year is impressive. The Russian national stand (over 120 square metres) presents the wide variety of new books of different genres, which have been published in Russia: Russian classical literature and works of modern Russian authors, philology and Russian language, books for children and the youth, history and geography of Russia, culture, philosophy and politics.

Russian Culture Abroad: International project Russian Seasons opened in Germany

Russian Seasons - the annual international project of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation was inaugurated at the Berlin Philharmonic in Germany on January 7, 2019. Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s opera Iolanta and Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 1 Op. 25 were performed for the guests of the ceremony. On the same day the exhibition “Tchaikovsky. Opera Genius”, dedicated to the history of creation of Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and other compositions was staged in the philharmonic foyer.

The Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of the Russian Academy of Sciences (the Kunstkamera) has provided online access to the Album “Ethiopian Collection of Nikolai Gumilev”. The catalogue presents the unique collections and documents brought by outstanding Russian poet Nikolai Gumilev from his travels to Ethiopia, then known as Abyssinia.

A new project “The Kunstkamera’s Calendar” has been launched on the official website of the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of the Russian Academy of Sciences (The Kunstkamera). It not only features the collection of significant dates from the past, but also highlights the upcoming events. The information in the Calendar is grouped into four sections – “Chronograph”, “Museum”, “Science” and “Ethnographic Calendar”.

Berlin and the Presidential Library to be linked by videoconferencing dedicated to Karl Bulla

On January 17, 2019 at 20:00 Moscow time, the ceremonial opening of the exhibition dedicated to the founder of the Russian photo report Karl Bulla (1855–1929) will take place in the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin. On this day, the video conference will link the capital of Germany with the Presidential Library located on Senate Square, 3 in St. Petersburg.
