History and Culture: “Pushkiniana in 20th-Century Playbills” exhibition to open in Moscow

“Pushkiniana in 20th-Century Playbills” exhibition will open on April 2, 2019 in the Pushkin State Museum in Moscow. The museum houses over 800 playbills. There are more than 40 playbills and posters on display. Supplementary materials include graphic portraits, photographs, records, audio materials and objects of decorative and applied art from museum’s collections.

History and Culture: “Easter Holiday” display of postcards presented in Astrakhan

The exhibition under the title “Easter Holiday” will run in the Museum of History of the City in Astrakhan until May 5, 2019. Visitors will have a chance to see the series of “open letters”, which residents sent each other on the eve of the holiday in the late 19th – 1930s. The postcards are provided by famous collector Vladimir Gusev. Some of the cards on display have a very notable fate, which they shared with their owners.

Internet and History: Ahead of the Victory Day the Ministry of Defence of Russia released unique front-line photographs of commanders of the Great Patriotic War

The Ministry of Defence of Russia has launched a new multimedia section featuring photographs, which show Victory commanders on the frontlines – during key strategic operations, famous battles, as well as before and after them – that is from the first until the last day of the war. It is part of the series of projects of the Ministry of Defence, which are dedicated to key figures of the Great Patriotic War.

Museums of Russia: First exhibition staged at Smolensk fortress wall

An exhibition of the 14th-16th-century historical re-enactment is mounted at Smolensk fortress wall. The exposition is organized with the support of the regional branch of the Russian Military and Historical Society in Smolensk Region and the Cultural and Historical Monuments Management Agency.

New project about the mining industry united St. Petersburg, the Urals and Siberia

On September 26, 2019, the Presidential Library, the Altai Regional Center and the Shishkov Altai Regional Research Library presented the new interregional historical project Mining and Metallurgical Industry in Russia, 18th c. – early 20th c., which comprises about 600 items: archival and museum documents, articles, monographs, photographs and maps, which illustrate the development of the mining industry in the Urals, Siberia and eastern Kazakhstan.
