The Presidential Library’s video lecture devoted to famous historian Boris Ananyich

On May 6, 2022 the Presidential Library hosted a video lecture dedicated to Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Boris Ananyich as part of the Knowledge of Russia project. The event, organized jointly with the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was the fourth in the series of lectures "Outstanding Historians of the 19th-20th Centuries".

280 years ago, on May 6, 1742, Empress Elizabeth, the youngest and beloved daughter of Peter the Great, solemnly ascended the Russian throne. The evidence of why she made changes to the coronation ceremony, how the crowned parent affectionately called her daughter and what the era of her reign was remembered for is available in the materials of the Elizabeth Petrovna (1709–1761) collection on the Presidential Library’s portal.

The Presidential Library recalls the history of the May Day celebration

Spring and Labor Day is one of the favorites in our country. May Day received this name relatively recently, in 1992, and before that, May Day was celebrated as the International Day of Solidarity of Workers. People took to the demonstrations with banners, sang songs and chanted life-affirming slogans. They were proud of the scale of the May Day demonstration.
