101 years ago, from July 16 to July 17, the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, their children — Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, Tsarevich Alexei, and the accompanying people were shot in Yekaterinburg in the basement of the mining engineer Nikolai Ipatiev.

The cooking class “From the Tsar’s Table to the Presidential cuisine”, prepared jointly with the Kremlyovsky food production facility, was the first in a cycle of weekend activities that the Presidential Library launched in summer 2019. In the course of the meeting, the attendees of the historic building on Senate Square not only made a meal according to little-known recipes, but also thanks to numerous materials from the Presidential Library’s collections learned a lot of interesting things about the historical evolution of the cuisine of the first persons of the state.

July 14, 2019 marks the 276th anniversary of the birth of Gavrila Derzhavin, the first Russian poet of his time, extraordinary and successful statesman: he was the governor of Olonets and Tambov Governorates, the cabinet secretary of Catherine II, the minister of justice of Russia and retired as a senator and a real secret advisor. The Presidential Library’s portal features the electronic collection “Gavrila Derzhavin (1743–1816)” consisting of rare materials: military notes, poems and notes of songs written in the words of the poet as well as  digital copies of the memoirs of contemporaries, odes and plays of Derzhavin himself.

Pyotr Chaadayev illustrated in the Presidential Library’s collections

Electronic biographical resources of the Presidential Library have been added with another collection - “Pyotr Chaadayev (1794-1856)”. Chaadayev, Russian philosopher, thinker, publicist, continues to live in his writings, published letters, memoirs of his contemporaries, research papers and other materials included in the collection timed to his 225th anniversary.
