Archives abroad: Unique archival documents featured at “Nobel Family in the Russian Empire” Exhibition in Helsinki

The unique archival documents on the history of Russia of the 19th - early 20th century, are displayed at "Nobel Family in the Russian Empire" exhibition at the National Archives of Finland (Helsinki). It tells about the historical events from 1830s until 1917, revealing different aspects of industrial, scientific and humanitarian activities of the family migrated in 1838 from Sweden to St. Petersburg.

"The exhibition was prepared in cooperation with the Russian side and consists of two sections, said Pertti Hakala, curator of the exhibition. - The first section features the documents and photographs from several archives in Finland, mainly from the National Archives; the second presents posters, prepared by Russian scientists, telling about the scientific and industrial activity of the Nobel family, their relationships with the scientific world of St. Petersburg. "

The exhibition also displays personal belongings of family members, letters, sketches and drawings, patents and other unique exhibits.
