Internet and History: Photographs of the capital during the Great Patriotic War now available on the Moscow Electronic School’s portal

The Moscow Electronic School project now features photographs of the capital, which were taken during the Great Patriotic War. The materials for the album “1941–1945. Photographs of Wartime Moscow” were provided by specialists of the Main Archive Directorate of Moscow (Glavarkhiv). The collection includes the works of Alexander Ustinov, Mikhail Trakhman, Yakov Khalip, Dmitry Baltermants, Georgy Korabelnikov and many others.

World History: “The Brusilov Offensive” exhibition kicked off in the Martial Chamber in Tsarskoye Selo

On April 27, 2019 the Tsarskoye Selo Museum-Reserve launched the exhibition “The Brusilov Offensive”. It is open in “Russia in the Great War” Museum in the Martial Chamber. At the core of the exposition are photographs from the album of clerk Markov, which show the episodes of the campaign in 1916. The photographs are from Pavel Khoroshilov’s collection (Moscow).

The scientific library of Tomsk State University converted into digital format and the was the first in the world which posted online a rare publication - a full album of 19th-century engravings "The French Museum, or the Complete collection of paintings, sculptures and bas-reliefs that make up the national collection, with historical references and explanations plots".

The Presidential Library tells about bringing up of emperors

On June 11th, 2024 an online webinar titled "Childhood and Upbringing of Russian Emperors" was held on the portal of the Presidential Library. The collection of materials at the Presidential Library depicts the childhood years of heirs to the Russian throne, including illustrative albums, ceremonial portraits, and photographs taken in their homes.

St. Petersburg through the eyes of foreign artists: unique images of the 19th century available in the Presidential Library’s collections

The Presidential Library features a rare 1815 publication “Pictures of St. Petersburg, presented in twenty entertaining views of the city, carriages and people”. Each image is dedicated to a specific month of the year and is accompanied by historical commentary. The album can be viewed in the electronic reading room of the library and in all remote access centers in Russia and abroad.

The Museum of Vasily Tropinin and Moscow Artists of His Time opened an exhibition "Method and Image". The exposition includes paintings from both museum and private collections of Tatiana and Sergei Podstanitsky. The core exhibits are two old photo albums, which entered the museum collection in 1973 and 2020. They preserved images of Fyodor Tyutchev, Pyotr Vyazemsky and his wife, actress Sarah Bernhardt, and others.

A collection of book series “Marshals of Victory. Through the Pages of a Family Album" was donated to the Presidential Library. Each of the books presents unique archival materials about the heroes of the battles of past years - documents and photographs, almost all of them are published for the first time. The publication of the book series is a joint project of the Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology and the Union of Russian Collectors All-Russian public organization.
