The great Russian commander, His Sovereign Prince Mikhail Illarionovich Golenishchev-Kutuzov-Smolensky who defeated Napoleon was born in St. Petersburg on September 16, 1745. The Presidential Library’s electronic collection contain many unique materials related to the life story of the legendary Field Marshal. Most of them are presented in the public domain on the organization’s Internet portal as part of the special collection “The Patriotic War of 1812”.

The Federal Archival Agency presented an Internet project "Brilliant son of the golden age". N. M. Karamzin and his era", which is an online version of the historical-documentary exhibition devoted to the 250th anniversary of the birth of a prominent historian and writer, was held from March 24 to June 29, 2016 in the Exhibition Hall of the Federal Archives in St. Petersburg.

On October 12 (25) 1905 in Moscow on the initiative of the “Union of Liberation” and the “Union of Constitutionalist-Zemtsy” was opened a founding congress of the Constitutional Democratic Party (Kadets).

On July 11, 2001 Russian President V. Putin signed a federal law “On political parties” adopted by the State Duma on June 21 and approved by the Federation Council on June 29, 2001.

February 8 (21), 1906 in Moscow opened the I All-Russia Congress of the Party "Union of October 17”. At the congress, which lasted until 12 (25) February, completed the final design of the structure and organization of the Octobrist party.
8 (21) февраля 1906 г. в Москве открылся I Всероссийский съезд партии «Союз 17 октября». На съезде..., проходившем до 12 (25) февраля, завершилось окончательное оформление структуры и организации партии... октябристов.
Партия «Союз 17 октября» возникла в 1905 г. после издания Манифеста 17 (30) октября.... С. Авдаков, Э. Л. Нобель, братья Рябушинские). Возглавил партию крупный московский домовладелец... и промышленник А. И. Гучков.
К весне 1906 г. в стране действовало 260 отделов партии «Союз 17 октября...8 (21) февраля 1906 г. в Москве открылся I Всероссийский съезд партии «Союз 17 октября...». На съезде, проходившем до 12 (25) февраля, завершилось окончательное оформление структуры и организации партии октябристов.

In December 2021, the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Moldova handed over to the libraries of Gagauzia a large batch of new books - fiction, scientific, reference books and dictionaries. The action was held within the framework of the "Russian book as a gift" campaign. The handover ceremony took place in Comrat, in the Central Library of Gagauzia.

The Manuscripts Department of the Russian State Library (Moscow) has staged the exhibition, marking the 145th anniversary of the birth of Valery Yakovlevich Bryusov (1873—1924), a brilliant symbolist poet, playwright and translator. The RSL’s Manuscripts Department houses a large collection of Valery Ya. Bryusov’s works – more than 7.500 documents: manuscripts, translated works, reviews of works written by contemporaries, poet’s epistolary legacy, and books from the private library.

18 (29), 1787 in St. Petersburg, in the family of the son of the State Councilor and a wealthy Tambov-Saratov landlord, was born Mikhail S. Lunin, future colonel, holder of the Order of St. George, Decembrist. He received a brilliant education at the time, but did not have a solid general education. He served in the Cavalry Regiment and was a veteran of the war of 1812 and foreign campaigns of the Russian army.
