On September 9th, the Memorial Day for soldiers who lost their lives during the Crimean War (1853–1856) is celebrated. To show respect for those who gave their lives, the national flag of the Republic of Crimea will be lowered and a black ribbon will be attached to the flag pole. This day, on August 28th (September 9th), 1855 marked the end of the heroic 349-day defence of Sevastopol.

The collection "Petersburg Tram", represented on the portal of the Presidential Library, has been enriched with digital copies of unique documents that reveal details of the organization of the first public electric transport.

The capital city of Chechnya, Grozny, will turn 200 in 2018. On the City Day, which is celebrated on October 5, concerts and other cultural events will take place at several venues. March 9, 2020 marks the 86th anniversary of the birth of the legendary astronaut, Hero of the Soviet Union Yuri Gagarin (1934-1968). Digital collections of the Presidential Library contain unique materials dedicated to his life and feat. They entered the Outer Space collection, which includes newsreel fragments, periodicals, books, postcards, commemorative medals and badges as well as a separate large collection dedicated to the first astronaut.

For forty years Maria Gavrilovna Savina (1854–1915) shone on the stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater in St. Petersburg. She devoted most of her life to the theater, living in the theater and for the theater. The Presidential Library's collections feature numerous documents, letters, biographical sketches and photographs of the actress, including the unique photo album “Honored Artist of the Imperial Russian Drama Troupe M. G. Savina. Thirty-five years on the Imperial stage" (1909).
