On May 22 (June 2), 1784, by decree of Empress Catherine II, the Olonets governorate was established as a province. The administrative center of the governorship became Petrozavodsk which received the status of a provincial city.

The exhibition marking the 420th anniversary of the Astrakhan Diocese has opened in the Museum of Astrakhan Culture. The exposition features photographs, documents from the collections of Sergei Stepanov and items from the collections of the Astrakhan Museum-Reserve. Visitors will have an opportunity to see about 100 exhibits, including unique icons of the XVII-XVIII centuries, samples of church sewing, spiritual literature.
