At the solemn event on February 12, 2018 in honor of the Day of the Diplomatic Worker of Russia the Presidential Library was awarded with a commemorative badge of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg. The award to the Director General of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin was presented by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in St. Petersburg Vladimir Zapevalov.

February 2, 2024 marks the 120th birthday anniversary of the Soviet test pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union Valery Pavlovich Chkalov. The Presidential Library's collections feature Nikolai Bobrov’s book Chkalov (1940). The preface to the publication, published two years after the tragic death of the pilot, was written by his widow Olga Erasmovna Chkalova.

Vasily Andreyevich Zhukovsky was born on January 29 (February 9), 1783 in the village of Mishenskoye, Belyovsky Uezd, Tula Governorate. He was the illegitimate son of the landowner Afanasi Ivanovich Bunin and the captive Turkish woman Salkha (in baptism – Yelizaveta Dementievna Turchaninova). The boy was adopted and given his surname and patronymic by the impoverished landowner Andrey Grigoryevich Zhukovsky, an acquaintance of Afanasi Bunin, who lived in their house.
