The exhibition “Oman in Hermitage” opened on July 24, 2018 in the State Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg). The exhibition is a part of cooperation between the State Hermitage Museum and the National Museum of the Sultanate of Oman. It presents objects relating to the golden age of the Omani Empire and to the ruling dynasty.

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the judicial reform, which was intended to provide a fast, fair and merciful justice to all Russian citizens, the Presidential Library makes available to a comprehensive collection of sources on the history of elaboration and introduction of the legislative reform in the Russian Empire, which were previously almost inaccessible.

On October 10 (21) 1731 as a result of the weakened state of the Kazakh Khanate caused by an exhausting war with Zunghars (Dzungar people) Khan Abul Khair and most of elders of the Little horde (Jüz) swore allegiance to the Russian Empire, thus the incorporation of Kazakhstan into Russia begun.

21 July 1804
On July 09 (21), 1804 Alexander I approved the first statutes on censorship in the Russian Empire. According to the statutes all the editions were subject to censorship by censorial committees specially created under St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, Dorpt and Vilnius Universities.

340 years ago, on May 7 (April 27), 1682, a significant event took place in the history of Russia. On this day, after the death of Tsar Feodor III Alekseevich, the succession to the throne was transferred to the ten-year-old Peter, the future commander and reformer of the Russian Empire.
