The first event from the “Anti-Falsification of the history of the Great Patriotic War” cycle on the theme of “The Beginning of the Great Patriotic War. Myths and Reality” was held at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Brest on September 21, 2017, and was timed to coincide with the International Day of Peace. Students of D. M. Karbyshev High School No. 20 and G. K. Zhukov University Preparatory School No. 6 attended the event.

On December 5, 1941, after intense defensive battles that lasted more than two months, the Soviet Red Army launched a counterattack along the entire frontline near Moscow. This offensive, which ended in April 1942, resulted in the defeat of Army Group Centre's shock troops, marking the first major setback for the Wehrmacht since 1 September 1939 and changing the course of World War II.

The West Siberian Peasant Revolt of 1921 is the largest armed uprising against Soviet power. It engaged a great number of participants and covered the huge territory. Until the end of the 1980s, the Soviet historical literature described the events of 1921 as a revolt of the kulaks and Socialist Revolutionaries.
