August 30, 2019 marks the 156th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky (1863–1944), an inventor, professor, and pioneer of colour photography in Russia. According to S. Garanina’s article Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky’s Collection of Sights of Russia, he “belonged to an old noble family and was a man of many talents”.
