The Presidential Library marking the day of the beginning of the siege of Leningrad

On September 8, 1941, a siege ring closed around Leningrad, which squeezed the city until January 18, 1943 the troops of the Leningrad and Volkhov fronts joined near the southern shore of Lake Ladoga. 82 years have passed since the beginning of those terrible events. October 2, 2012 the presentation of new exhibits in the train-museum of the Novosibirsk Metro took place: one of them is devoted to the 75th anniversary of the Novosibirsk region, the other – to the 75th anniversary of the Novosibirsk Philharmonic.

History of Russia: Exhibition in Kostroma unveils history of the first private railway

An exhibition which casts the light on building and operation of the first Russian private railway, which connected Moscow, Yarolavl and Vologda, is available in a travelling car-museum of the history of Northern railway, which has arrived in Kostroma.

On the eve of New Year celebrations in St. Petersburg metro started running a literary train. All eight train cars are dedicated to writers and poets whose names are associated with the city on the Neva.

Young Traveller’s Library is now available in carriages of the train No. 133/134 (Tomsk-Anapa). In all, there are 11 trains in Russia, whose young passengers can borrow books just like in a real library and read them during a long journey.
