History and Culture: Exhibition marking the bicentenary of Goznak mounted in the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg

The exhibition “1818+. The 200-Year History of Goznak” is open in the Peter and Paul Fortress through the end of December 2018. On display are banknotes, coins and prizes, as well as postage stamps with sketches, and books, illustrated by prominent artists of that time, including those who worked at the Expedition of Storing State Papers (Goznak since 1919).

In connection with this significant date, the Presidential Library provides the electronic collection posted on the institution's portal. The Summer Garden is considered to be the same age as St. Petersburg; it was founded by Peter I in 1704. The line “This hand of Poltava planted a garden” by the poet Pyotr Vyazemsky is not accidental - indeed, the plan of the Summer Garden was created by the emperor himself. "We observe the alley of the Summer Garden in Saint-Petersburg of Peter the Great's times. Today hospitable Admiral Pyotr Mikhailov gave a feast to his "comrades" in the service..." - we read in the book Pictures on Russian History (1913) by Sergei Knyazkov, the famous researcher of Saint-Petersburg.
«Перед нами аллея Летнего сада в Петербурге петровских времён. Гостеприимный адмирал Пётр Михайлов... «В Летнем саду при Петре Великом». – „Светел сердцем и лицом“ идёт он по аллее сада. День жаркий... с садовником в Петербург». Именно эта дата, 5 апреля, считается днём рождения Летнего сада. На портале...
