Birthday anniversary of Yakov Petrovich Polonsky (1819-1898), Russian poet and prose writer

Yakov Petrovich Polonsky was born on December 6 (18), 1819, in Ryazan. The poet's father, Pyotr Grigorievich Polonsky, was a clerk in the office of Ryazan Governor-General A. D. Balashov. In 1819, he married Natalya Yakovlevna Kaftyreva, a descendant of an ancient noble family. Yakov Petrovich Polonsky was the eldest child in the family.

The Presidential Library’s exhibition to showcase the feat of Leningrad pediatricians during the siege

On April 28, 2022 at 12:00 Senate Square 3 will host the grand opening of the multimedia exhibition “LPMI in the Years of Siege. Saving Children: Honor and Courage of Leningrad Pediatricians”. The exposition has been prepared by the St. Petersburg State Medical Pediatric University of the Ministry of Health of Russia (SPbSPMU) (formerly the Leningrad Pediatric Medical Institute - LPMI) with the participation of the Presidential Library.

Every year on May 15, the world celebrates International Day of Families. It was established in 1993 at the initiative of the United Nations General Assembly in order to draw public attention to the problems families face. All over the world, conferences, meetings and seminars dedicated to this date discuss issues related to the respectful attitude of relatives to each other, equality of spouses, children's rights, etc.

The Presidential Library spotlights the family’s values

July 8 is the Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness. This year it received the status of an official holiday. On June 28, President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed the Decree "On the Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness". The text of the document states that the holiday is established "in order to preserve traditional family values and spiritual and moral education of children and youth".

On July 8th, Russia celebrates theDay of Family, Love and Fidelity. This official holiday was established in 2022 when Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree titled About the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity. The document states that the holiday was created in order to promote traditional family values and the spiritual and moral upbringing of children and young people. By decree, 2024 was declared the Year of the Family in Russia.

On October 15th, 2024, the 210th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Lermontov, a great Russian poet, will be celebarted. His childhood was spent at the rich manor in Tarkhany, Penza Governorate. Lermontov lost his mother at an early age, and a few years later, his father. His maternal grandmother, Elizaveta Arsenyevna, took over his upbringing and education.

On the eve of the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, the Presidential Library hosted a creative lesson with the writer Marina Lykova “Journey to the world of children's book”. The library systematically implements educational programs designed for primary school age: these are multimedia lessons and support for beginning cinematographers from urban studios, and constant attention to “special” children from specialized educational institutions.

On August 21, 2024, the specialists of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library, based at the Sholom Aleichem Birobidzhan Regional Universal Scientific Library organized an educational game called The Russian Flag is Our Pride for children. The event was held to celebrate the Day of the National Flag of the Russian Federation and was attended by participants from the "Movement of the First" shift at the Yunnaty Children's Health Camp.
