The Presidential Library’s portal provides online Russian history from the Laurentian Chronicle to the present day

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the program of online broadcasts, on the eve of the Day of the Russian Navy, the video film "Russian Fleet off the Coast of America" ​​will be shown on the Presidential Library's portal. The film illustrates the expedition of the Russian fleet to the shores of North America in 1863-1864, which became one of the brightest and most interesting pages in the history of relations between the two countries.

This week, users will be able to feel the epoch of Catherine II’s reign, learn little-known details about the Russian army of that time, the state and social policy pursued by the empress, recall the glorious victories in the Battle of Gangut in 1714 and the Battle of Sinop in 1853.

Presidential Library’s video lectures will tell about the strength of Russian people to overcome the Time of Troubles, about Ivan III who appears in the chronicles of the times of his reign, the relationship of the sovereign with the aristocracy and what Russia looked like in the eyes of the West in the 15th-16th centuries. The video “The House of Romanov. 400th Anniversary of the Zemsky Sobor of 1613" will introduce the collection of the same name, provided on the Presidential Library’s portal, which includes unique historical materials converted into electronic format - official documents, memoirs, diaries, business and personal correspondence, newsreel fragments, photographs and paintings, audio recordings radio broadcasts, popular science films, historical research, bibliography, and more.

The video lecture "The Epoch of Brezhnev in Soviet history" invites one to recall the recent past.

Thanks to online video lectures on the Presidential Library’s portal, one will learn about constitutional justice in Russia and abroad and about the main areas of activity and current issues of constitutional justice.

History lovers will be interested in films prepared by the Presidential Library: “The Laurentian Chronicle. The Birth of Russian Statehood", dedicated to one of the oldest Russian written monuments and "Novgorod. 1150 years in the history of the Russian state”, which tells about the history of the Novgorod land from the 6th to the 15th century.
