
The Presidential Library provides online broadcasting of films and lectures about the besieged Leningrad
The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.
In accordance with the broadcast program, on the eve and on September 8 - the day when the Siege of Leningrad began, the Presidential Library's portal presents a meeting with amazing people - Ninel Viktorovna Krasnolutskaya, who as a child survived all the terrible 900 days of the Siege, and Vladimir Fedorovich Artyomov, a participant in the breakthrough of the Siege of Leningrad.
Without leaving home, it is possible to visit the exhibition of the Presidential Library "The Siege: Chronicle of Life", which presents unique documents: diaries, frontline letters, posters, books, film and photo chronicles of the Siege period.
"Books about War and Victory" is the topic of a lecture released as part of the Presidential Library's educational project - a series of video lectures "Knowledge of Russia". The video lecture is based on the works of Olga Bergholz and the authors of the "The Siege Book" Daniil Granin and Ales Adamovich.
Also, the Presidential Library's portal broadcasts this week: the film "Borodino. Battle of the Giants" from the collection of documentaries of the Russian Historical Channel, spotlighting the largest battle of the Patriotic War of 1812; the video "Peasant Reform of 1861", which introduces the collection of the Presidential Library devoted to the emancipation reform; video lecture "Living Word of Leo Tolstoy: Writer's Linguistic Innovations".
The documentary about the "Death Penalty: Pro et Contra" exhibition of the Museum of Political History of Russia, filmed by the specialists of the Presidential Library, will impress anyone. The film invites to reflect this contrary topic.
The video lecture "Unknown Dzerzhinsky" will discuss the life and work of a revolutionary, politician, head of the All-Russian Extraordinary Commission.
The video "The Most Intentional City - a Monument Created by the State", which tells about the establishment and development of the historical centre of Saint-Petersburg in the period from 1703 to 1820s, will be interesting for lovers of history and architecture. The film contains maps of the city of the XVIII-XIX centuries, copies of archival documents, books and periodicals featuring the history of Saint-Petersburg and urban planning in Russia.
