Films and lectures available online on the Presidential Library’s portal

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the broadcast program, on January 18, on the memorable date of the breakthrough of the siege of Leningrad, the library's portal will show the film Leningradka dedicated to the memory of the poet, prose writer and journalist Olga Bergholz. The authors of the film will provide documents, archival radio recordings and diaries spotlighting the dramatic fate of the Muse of the besieged city.

The video Siege tram: in the struggle for the life of the city, which will also be broadcast on the library's portal, will tell about the work of electric transport in Leningrad during the siege; about how the memory of the employees who worked in the difficult conditions of the besieged city, about the development of the Leningrad tram in the 1930s.

Lovers of history and the history of cinema in particular, will certainly be interested in the silent feature film Vadim, filmed in 1910 by one of the Russian film industry pioneers Pyotr Chardinin, based on the unfinished historical novel of the same name by Mikhail Lermontov. The events in the film take place during the Peasant War of 1773-1775.

"The conquest of Siberia is in many respects similar to the conquest of Mexico and Peru..." These words of Nikolai Karamzin begin the speech of Doctor of Historical Sciences Yuri Akimov at the meeting "Russia will be grown with Siberia", held within the framework of the International Historical Forum. Users will be able to view the video recording of the speech on the Presidential Library’s portal.

Also in the week from January 18 to January 22, a video lecture "Ivan III in the Russian chronicles of the time of his reign" and the first part of the film "Saved frescoes of the Church of the Assumption on Volotovo Pole" will be broadcast online, which tells about the salvation of the paintings of ancient temples, their significance in the history of the country and the emergence of Russian statehood.
