Interfaculty Olympiad will be held for foreign students of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia with the support of the Presidential Library on April 22, 2021. The event will be attended by students from different countries, including about 300 residents of the People's Republic of China who are studying Russian.

Participants will have to complete tasks using a remote knowledge testing system. The registration form and questions will be available on the specialized website of the Presidential Library: http://olympiada.prlib.ru/rusforeign/#/Welcome/.

For the 11th year the Presidential Library has been holding Olympiads for Russian and foreign schoolchildren using the remote knowledge testing system. Of these, the Presidential Library's interactive Olympiad "Russia in the Electronic World" on the subject "Russian as a Foreign Language" has been held for two years for schoolchildren over 14 years old and students studying Russian. This year, students from 52 countries of Europe, Asia and Africa participated in the Olympiad.

A joint project of the Presidential Library and the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia will be another step in strengthening the positions of the Russian language and Russian education in the foreign space.

Cooperation between the two institutions has been going on since 2014. During this time, more than 22 thousand journals have been digitized from the collections of the Empress Maria Feodorovna Fundamental Library of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia. These are publications on pedagogy, as well as on historical, literary-critical, socio-political orientation and on the Russian language. Among them are the "Journal of the Ministry of Public Education" for 1834-1917, "Reports of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR" for 1934-1936, "Notes of the Academy of Sciences" for 1862-1895 and others.

Some of the materials are publicly available on the Presidential Library’s portal and in the electronic reading room of the institution, located in the historical building of the Synod in St. Petersburg. Also, access to the library’s collections is carried out through a network of remote access centers, which are located in all 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and in 30 foreign countries.
