29 November – 3 December 2021

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the broadcast program, on the eve and on the Lawyer Day, which is celebrated on December 3, visitors to the Presidential Library’s portal will meet with an outstanding lawyer Yuri Kirillovich Tolstoy. From the video version of the conversation with the scientist, which was recorded on the occasion of his 90th birthday, it will be possible not only to learn about the life and professional path of one of the founders of modern Russian civil law, but also to hear his reflections on the relationship between the state and the individual, on the education of today's lawyers.

On the occasion of the 280th anniversary of the beginning of the reign of Peter the Great's daughter, it will be possible to watch the video lecture “Empress Elizabeth Petrovna through the eyes of Catherine the Great” online. Historian Mikhail Safonov proposes to compare two handwritten editions of the "Notes of Empress Catherine II" and find out what Catherine thought and said about her mother-in-law at the beginning of her reign, and what - 20 years later.

Another video lecture within the framework of the Presidential Library educational project Knowledge of Russia will tell about the Battle of Sinop under the command of Vice Admiral Pavel Nakhimov, which brought the Black Sea Fleet victory over the Turkish squadron and largely determined the course of further Russian history.

Without leaving home, users will be able to visit representatives of modern Vepsians - descendants of the strong and noticeable in antiquity tribe “all”, to learn about their traditions and the way of life. This will become possible thanks to the broadcast of the film "Bobrozero", prepared by the specialists of the Presidential Library.

"Capital City" is a documentary film, also filmed by the library specialists. The film, dedicated to the emergence of statehood on Russian soil, is about archaeological excavations carried out by employees of the Institute for the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the territory of Staraya Ladoga. The film spotlights the point of view of Anatoly Nikolayevich Kirpichnikov, the chief specialist in the study of the territory of Staraya Ladoga, who passed away last year, that Staraya Ladoga is the "ancient capital of Northern Russia".

The screening of a video film, which tells about the exhibition of the Presidential Library "'Protecting Nature Means Protecting Motherland": the Year of Ecology in Russia", is timed to coincide with the 97th anniversary of the founding of the All-Russian Society for the Conservation of Nature.

The schedule of broadcasts of films and video lectures for the coming week is available on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live broadcasts section.
