Cosmonautics Day at the Presidential Library to mark the anniversaries of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky and Sergei Korolev

On April 12, 2022 at 10:00 the Presidential Library will host the traditional conference "Cosmonautics Day at the Presidential Library".

The event, which is being held for the eighth time at the Presidential Library, this year is dedicated to the 165th anniversary of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky and the 115th anniversary of Sergei Korolev. The purpose of the conference “Space. Information. Time” is to highlight the most important historical dates and events of the national cosmonautics.

Pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Andrey Borisenko, representatives of the State Corporation Roscosmos, representatives of the North-West Interregional Public Organization of the Federation of Cosmonautics of the Russian Federation, representatives of the Russian State Hydrometeorological University, scientists, cadets and students of educational institutions of St. Petersburg will attend the event. Participants from other cities of Russia will join the event via video conferencing.

The start of the "Cosmonautics Day at the Presidential Library" will be given from space - a video greeting will be sounded from the International Space Station.

The event participants will learn about the Vostochny cosmodrome, the Anton Shkaplerov Aerospace Center in Sevastopol, meteorological research in space, the mysterious planet Venus, the Touching Space project of the Cosmonautics Federation, and the fragrant collection of "space" perfume. Memories of a meeting with Sergei Korolev by a veteran of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, an honorary radio operator of the USSR Vladimir Kraskin, will be heard.

There will be held a virtual tour of the Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics (Kaluga) and the Academician Korolev Memorial House-Museum (Moscow).

The conference "Cosmonautics Day in the Presidential Library" will spotlight historical facts and modern cultural projects. The quest "Virtual flight into space!" will be held at the sites of the remote access centers to the resources of the Presidential Library.

The conference is free. It will be broadcast live on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live broadcasts section, in the Presidential Library’s cinema club group on the VKontakte social network and on the institution's YouTubeRutubeTelegram.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Outer Space which includes fragments of newsreels, periodicals, books, postcards, commemorative medals and badges that spotlight various milestones in the development of astronautics. The collection is constantly updated.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
