
The Presidential Library provides films, video lectures and webinars online
The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.
In accordance with the broadcast program, on August 22, on the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation, users have an opportunity to learn about the video lecture "The State Flag of Russia", where the Executive Secretary of the Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation, Gleb Kalashnikov, tells about the history of one of the state symbols of the country.
The Presidential Library’s film “Laurentian Chronicle. The Birth of Russian Statehood” is dedicated to the oldest Russian written monument. The film highlights the stages of preparation and implementation of the project of the National Library of Russia, the Presidential Library and the public foundation "Center of National Glory of Russia" to digitize and provide free access to an electronic copy of this unique historical document.
August 26 marks the 210th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino. Thanks to a video tour on the Presidential Library’s portal, without leaving home, it is now possible to visit the exhibition "The Glorious Year of the People's War", dedicated to the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 over the French troops led by Napoleon. Particular attention is paid to archive documents, illustrated editions, popular prints, Russian and French cartoons.
Also, as part of the informational and methodological webinar “No wonder that all of Russia remembers Borodino’s Day!” users will be able to learn about archival materials and scientific works that reveal the causes, course and results of the Patriotic War of 1812; learn about maps and photographs of memorable places, as well as with popular science films about the Russian-French war, which are presented on the portal and in the Presidential Library's collections.
The film of the Presidential Library "Vologda fortress of Ivan the Terrible" tells about one of the greatest buildings of the era of the first Russian tsar. Did the tsar plan to move the capital to Vologda? Why did Grozny stop construction and leave Vologda? Is his departure connected with the famous brick that fell from the arch of St. Sophia Cathedral? These and other questions will be answered by experts and authors of the film, which is timed to coincide with the 492nd anniversary of the birth of the first Russian Tsar.
Making a feature film is a lively and extremely interesting process. In addition to the director and cameraman, people of various cinematographic professions are involved in it: props, costume designers, make-up artists, production designers and many others. The documentary "The Story of One Frame", filmed by the specialists of Lennauchfilm, is a reportage portrait sketches about the work of like-minded professionals in the film "Lions, Eagles and Partridges" directed by Vitaly Melnikov.
Two films from the collection of the historical channel 365 Days of TV will be shown on the Presidential Library’s portal at once. The film "The Great Northern War" will tell about the events that preceded the war of 1700-1721, its course, results and influence on the history of Russia of that period. The film “Alexei Brusilov. The Riddle of Memoirs” will reveal little-known facts about the fate of the Russian and Soviet military leader Alexei Brusilov, commander-in-chief of the Southwestern Front during the First World War, and in Soviet Russia, the chief inspector of the cavalry of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army.
Scientist, inventor, one of the founders of domestic color photography, Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky was the first in Russia to propose his own method of obtaining a color image, leaving to posterity photographic images of the vast expanses of Russia at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries. His legacy is truly artistic canvases, executed not with a brush and paints, but with the help of a camera. The work of the great master, his contribution to the preservation of the images of the centuries-old culture of the Motherland will be told not only by photographs, but also by articles, archive materials and videos presented at the Presidential Library’s webinar.
On the eve of September 1, the Knowledge Day, users will be able to watch a documentary, the hero of which is an art teacher from Staraya Russa, the publisher of the all-Russian magazine for children about art "Vvedenskaya storona" Nikolai Lokot’kov. The artist, teacher and publisher has firmly established himself in the Russian hinterland. What is keeping him there? The answer to this question is given by the film “The Drawing Teacher. The history of one journal”, prepared by the specialists of the Presidential Library.
