Battles of the USSR Navy during the Great Patriotic War discussed at conference in the Presidential Library

On June 27th, 2024 at 10:00 Moscow time, the Presidential Library will host a scientific and educational conference dedicated to the role of the USSR Navy during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).

The event will focus on events that occurred between July and December of 1944. Speakers will discuss in detail the Tuloksin amphibious operation, which took place on June 23rd-27th 1944 - an offensive operation by the Ladoga Military Flotilla as part of the Svir-Petrozavodsk Offensive Operation. Other topics include the combat actions of sailors from the Baltic and Ladoga fleets in the second half of 1944, as well as the participation of the Black Sea and Dnieper Fleets in battles with Nazi forces in the same period. Additionally, speakers will discuss the role of the Northern Fleet during the offensive operation of Karelian troops between October 7th and 29th 1944, and other significant events from this period.

In addition, conference participants will have the opportunity to take a virtual tour of the Crimea - 80th Anniversary of the Feat exhibition at the Victory Museum in Moscow. This exhibition is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Crimea and Sevastopol from Nazi occupation during World War II.

The conference is open to representatives of the administration of St. Petersburg, the General Staff of the Russian Navy, maritime educational, historical, and cultural institutions, as well as students, cadets, and teachers from maritime educational institutions in Russia.

Organizers of the conference are:

- The Admirals' Club, a regional organization of admirals and generals of the St. Petersburg navy;
- Presidential Library;
- Admiralty Coordinating Council of Veteran Organizations of the Navy; 
- "Marine Lyceum" of the Primorsky District of St. Petersburg.

The event is available for everyone. It will be broadcasted on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live Broadcasts section, on the Rutube-channel of the institution, as well as on the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.
