Presidential Library invites schoolchildren and students to participate in Olympiad in history, social studies and Russian language

23 September 2024 – 20 March 2025

The Olympiad Russia in the Electronic World will be held by the Presidential Library and the National Research University Higher School of Economics from September 23, 2024 to March 20, 2025. It will be divided into three separate subjects: history, social studies, and the Russian language. Presidential Library invite students from grades 10 and 11, as well as those studying in secondary vocational schools in the field of arts, to participate.

The competition consists of three stages. The first two stages will be held remotely from September 23 to December 2 in 2024, and from December 20 to January 24 in 2025. The third and final stage will be in-person from March 18-20 in 2025. Winners and runners-up from the previous year's Olympiad Russia in the Electronic World who are continuing their studies at organizations engaged in education, including those studying at home or abroad, or those mastering secondary vocational programs in Russia, may also participate in this year's competition.  Participants from St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region will meet in the historic Synod building on Senate Square, 3. Children from other regions will also join them at the remote electronic reading rooms of the library, as well as at Library's Tyumen branch.

The tasks of the Olympiad are based, among other things, on materials from the electronic library collections. This holdings contain more than a million digitized copies of rare documents that form the historical and cultural heritage of our country. Therefore, exploring the library's resources on the official portal can help participants answer competition questions as fully and accurately as possible.

In addition, participants can also practice with the tasks from previous years posted on the project portal in the Archive section. The main goal of the competition is to introduce students to working with archival information sources on the history, theory, and practice of Russian statehood. This educational project aims to find and support young talents and promote humanitarian knowledge among young people.
