The Presidential Library will show and discuss the “Capitalism” movie shot by Vyacheslav Kornev

20 January 2017

On January 20, 2016, at 3 pm the Presidential Library in cooperation with the Youth Center of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation invites the doc movie lovers on an hour-long film screening of Vyacheslav Kornev, PhD in philosophy, professor, a founder of the Kinolikbez Festival – in his movie author tries to give an assessment of capitalism as a system that levels and mutilates the human personality.

What are the money power, glossy images, consumptive demands in the construction phase of a full-fledged capitalism suppose to mean (capito is “understood” in Italian)? What is a capital has in common with a vampire? What turns a human being into a consumer? A protagonist of the investigation movie, one-of-a-kind young guy, asks these and some other questions, window-shopping along glaring facades and wandering over dark nooks and crannies of capitalism. The reasoning of the author is accompanied by current-day movie footages.
