
The future of photography legacy will be discussed in the Presidential Library
A round table focused on “The future of photography legacy: on the issues of identification and representation” will take place in the Presidential Library on October 5, 2017, at 1 pm MSK. The event is organized within the framework of the Annual Integration Forum of the VIII Scientific and Practical Conference “Cultural heritage: An integration of the resources in the digital environment.”
The experts will appear with the reports on the popularization of photographic and video evidences, the new opportunities for the building of regional photo archives in the digital environment and much more. The staff employees of the Presidential Library will tell about methods of processing photographs for the electronic fund.
Apart from major agenda, the event’s participants will learn about the photography art projects of the Presidential Library. Among them is the “Foreign View” International Multimedia Competition, “Siberia.doc,” “Siberia: it's just you’re drop-dead gorgeous!” and “Caucasus.doc.” In addition, within the framework of the round table, the problems of digital archiving in Russian museums will be reviewed.
Industry-specific experts of ministries and departments from the regions, the heads of regional, sectorial, museum archives of photo and video documents, the owners of private collections, the leads of regional TV channels and production studios are invited to participate in the event in video-conferencing connection.
The Integration Forum of the VIII Scientific and Practical Conference “Cultural heritage: An integration of the resources in the digital environment” is annually held in the Presidential Library. The experts will discuss the state and the prospects of an embodiment of the digital resources at the national and regional levels, organizing effective information retrieval, and a number of other topical issues. There are the panel discussions, round tables, and specific sections in this year’s taking place on October 5—6 forum agenda.
