
Historical magazine “Rodina” in the Presidential Library: presentation of a new issue and video lecture dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Revolution in Russia
November 3, 2017 at 12:00 in the Presidential Library within the framework of the development of cooperation with the editorial board “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” will be held a presentation of a new issue of the “Rodina” magazine and a video lecture from the cycle "Knowledge of Russia" on the theme "October: to the 100th anniversary of the 1917 Revolution in Russia".
The November issue of the historical popular-science publication, rare materials of which are united under the heading "Published for the first time" and devoted to the centenary of the Russian revolution, will be presented by the editor-in-chief of “Rodina” and the deputy editor-in-chief of the “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” Igor Kots, director of the regional branch of “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” in Saint-Petersburg Anzhelika Gurskaya, as well as the leading columnist of the historical journal, Doctor of Philosophy Semen Ekshtut.
The event will continue the presentation of Boris Mironov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor of the Saint-Petersburg State University, on the theme "Revolution that stole victory and plunged into confusion". He will tell what exactly led to the explosion of revolutionary passions, gave birth to the October uprising, forced Russia to withdraw from the First World War and provoked a fratricidal Civil War.
Guests of the Presidential Library will also be able to familiarize themselves with the multimedia exhibition "The Year of the Magazine “Rodina” 2017: Historical Events in the Stories of People".
The event will be attended by students of the Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University, the Saint-Petersburg Institute of Culture, the Pushkin Leningrad State University, as well as in the mode of video-conferencing - employees of libraries and branches of the editorial staff of the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" in Perm, Chelyabinsk, Simferopol, Nizhny Novgorod, Kemerovo, Vladivostok, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, Bishkek .
