
Large-scale resources of the Presidential Library will be featured in the Mayakovsky City Public Library
On November 13, 2017, the remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library will open for public its virtual doors in the Central City Public Library named after V. V. Mayakovsky. Free access to the entire the Presidential Library stock, currently numbering over 580,000 entries, will be available to every Petersburg resident and the visitors of the city on 46 Fontanka River Embankment. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for 3 pm. The event will be held in the course of the cooperation agreement signed by the institutions on October 11, 2017.
The Director General of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin, the director of the Central City Public Library named after V. V. Mayakovsky Zoya Chalova, as well as representatives of the administration of St. Petersburg are planned to attend.
In the agenda is a presentation of information resources and services of the Presidential Library. Besides, the librarians of the Mayakovsky Central City Public Library will offer a demo on the work in the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library.
Being nationwide information cluster, the Presidential Library implements its own brand’s various educational, outreach and awareness raising projects. Therefore, apart from an open access to the extensive fund of the Presidential Library, the users of the electronic reading room will also be able to participate in the cultural, educational, scientific and social undertakings of the institution remotely via video-conferencing mode.
It stands to mention, to date, the Presidential Library has already opened more than 430 remote access centers in all 85 regions of the country. In addition, over 30 remote electronic reading rooms operate in 27 countries, including Germany, the United States, Italy, Spain, Austria, and the United Kingdom on the basis of Russian centers of science and culture and the national libraries.
