Videoconference dedicated to Alexander Nevsky to unite regions of Russia

April 29, 2021 at 10:30 Moscow time the Presidential Library and the Gorky Volgograd Regional Universal Scientific Library will hold an interregional videoconference "Alexander Nevsky: a statesman in the perspective of a historical document", dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the birth of the holy noble prince.

The Presidential Library’s portal presents the opening of the first State Duma of the Russian Empire on rare newsreel shooting

April 27 and 28, 2021 the Presidential Library’s portal presents a unique opportunity to see the first and only newsreel shooting of the opening of the first convocation of the State Duma of the Russian Empire and the State Council in Live broadcasts section. This event took place 115 years ago, on April 27, 1906 in the St. George throne room of the Winter Palace.

Vladimir Pushkarev’s photograph Chapel on Bely Island (Kara Sea) (2013), provided by the press service of the Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, has been published on the Presidential Library's portal in Video Tours and Exhibitions section. It is attached with the audio file Point on the map - Bely Island; it was recorded at the Presidential Library. In the audio recording Pavel Yegorov, Candidate of Geological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Geology and Geoecology of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia says that the chapel in memory of the BD-5 convoy died in the Kara Sea was built in 2012 on the initiative of one of the search expeditions.

Marking the 130th anniversary of Sergei Prokofiev: the musical film The Love for Three Oranges to be shown at the Presidential Library’s cinema club meeting

On April 23, 2021 at 14:00, on the day of the 130th anniversary of the birth of composer Sergei Prokofiev, the Presidential Library will be holding a cinema club meeting dedicated to the composer. The musical film The Love for Three Oranges will be shown at the event, which will be held jointly with the St. Petersburg Institution Record Youth Center. The film was directed in 1970 by Viktor Titov and Yuri Bogatyrenko based on the opera of the same name by Sergei Prokofiev.

"Praying for Fallen in Battle": The Presidential Library's film tells about the Temple in Staro-Panovo

April 23, 2021, at 12:00, the Presidential Library's portal in the Live broadcasts section and on the institution's YouTube channel will broadcast the premiere of the film "Praying for Fallen in Battle" created by the library's film group. It tells about the memorial church of Saint Martyrs Adrian and Natalia. It is devoted to those who were killed and missed in action defending Leningrad from the German invaders.

April 22, 2021, at 11:00 Moscow time, the Presidential Library, as part of the Knowledge of Russia project, will host a video lecture dedicated to the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and the Chino del Duca International Prize, three times Hero of Socialist Labor, one of the creators of the first Soviet hydrogen bomb, physicist Andrei Sakharov (1921-1989). The event is timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the birth of the scientist, which will be celebrated on May 21, 2021.
