Memorial dates of Russia: Exhibition celebrating 195th birth anniversary of Ivan Aksakov - a public man, publicist, poet, publisher - underway in Moscow

An exhibition «… The spirit’s sole sword – a Free word» exhibition timed to 195th birth anniversary of Ivan Aksakov - Slavophilia ideologist, writer, publisher of Den’ (Day), Moskva (Moscow) and Rus’ (Russia) newspapers - opened on June 20 2018 at the M. Lermontov House-Museum, the State Literary Museum’s branch. As a Chairman of the Slavic Charitable Society, Aksakov gained wide popularity in Western Europe when he was in charge of raising funds and delivery of weapons and equipment to the Bulgarian militia during the Second Eastern War.

The exhibition displays memorial belongings of Ivan Aksakov, articles and publications, letters, portraits, photographs, engravings and drawings, which illustrate an active part he took in the socio-political and spiritual life of Russia in the 19th century.
