Society and Culture: Exhibition “Porcelain Army of Dresden Factory” is opening in Alexander Suvorov Memorial Museum in St. Petersburg

14 August 2018

On August 14, 2018 the Alexander Suvorov State Memorial Museum (St. Petersburg) is mounting the exhibition of high-grade décor and luxury porcelain from Dresden, the twin town of St. Petersburg. It has been prepared jointly with the “Imperial Society for the Encouragement of Arts” Foundation.

This exposition will open the festival “European porcelain in St. Petersburg”  - a new joint project of the Foundation and Dresden Porcelain Factory (Porzellan-Manufaktur Dresden) “SP Dresden”.

On display are not just world-famous items: porcelain figurines of Napoleon, officers and soldiers of the French, British and Prussian armies, but also porcelain figurines of the renowned generalissimo and Empress Catherine II, specially created by German craftsmen for the show in Suvorov Museum.

The Suvorov Museum keeps graphic portraits of participants of Napoleonic wars, from both Russian and French armies.
