World Memory: Exhibition, marking the 90th birth anniversary of Chinghiz Aitmatov, mounted in New York

The 90th anniversary of the birth of the renowned writer Chinghiz Aitmatov has been marked in the USA. The photo exhibition, which spotlights the writer’s literary legacy, was launched in the United Nations Library in New York.

At the exhibition opening the President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenkekov expressed gratitude to Russia that provided invaluable assistance in organizing the event.

The head of the state reminded that Aitmatov is one of the three most published writers in the world. He follows Shakespeare and Tolstoy.
