History and Culture: International exhibition “Petipa. Dance Mania” in St. Petersburg marks 200 years since the choreographer’s birth

On November 2, 2018 in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Marius Petipa, the St. Petersburg State Museum of Theatre and Music is opening the international exhibition “Petipa. Dance Mania”.

In 2018 the ballet world is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Marius Petipa, a prominent choreographer, creator of classical Russian ballets. The international exhibition project “Petipa. Dance Mania” launched by the St. Petersburg Museum of Theatre and Music spotlights the timeless creative legacy of Petipa, which has been still performed and reinterpreted on the world’s major stages.
