Society and Culture: The opening ceremony of the Year of Theatre to start in Yaroslavl

In accordance with the Order of the President Vladimir Putin the Year of Theatre will be held in the Russian Federation in 2019. As part of it major events will take place across Russia and abroad. In all the regions the Year of Theatre will be inaugurated on the same date - December 13.

F. Volkov Russian State Academic Drama Theatre in Yaroslavl - the stage of the first Russian professional theatre - will become the main venue for the opening ceremony of the Year of Theater in Russia, that is due at 4 pm.    

President of Russia Vladimir Putin spoke at the opening of the Year of Theatre in Russia. He said: "I strongly hope that the Year of Theatre in Russia will do more than just give an impetus to theatre art. It will help theatre professionals strengthen their positions in our country, take them around the world again and, of course, give an opportunity to theatre lovers in Russia to enjoy the performances that the theatre community brings to our people".
