History and Culture: The 33rd Scientific Conference “Novgorod and Novgorod Land. History and Archaeology” about to open

The 33rd Scientific Conference “Novgorod and Novgorod Land. History and Archaeology” is opening on January 22, 2019 in the Lecture Hall of the Museum of Fine Arts in Veliky Novgorod. This year the conference is marking the 90th anniversary of the birth of academician Valentin Yanin. The name of the renowned scientist is forever associated with Novgorod archaeology, which is famous for the exceptional discoveries.

The conference will bring together leading scientists from research institutions of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Petrozavodsk, Tver, Pskov, Yekaterinburg, Rostov, as well as Polotsk (the Republic of Belarus). By tradition, results of the field research carried out in Novgorod Region in 2018 will be presented at the beginning of the conference.
