Internet and History: Unique archive of aerial photographs of Britain from the 1940s to 2009 made available online

4 March 2019

Unique aerial photographs of Britain from the 1940s to 2009 have been made available online on Cambridge University Library’s Digital Library as part of “Britain from the air: 1945-2009” online project.

The first 1,500 photographs from a vast archive of almost half a million images have gone online, showing not only ancient landscapes, but also how the UK’s built environment underwent radical change from the bomb-scarred post-war period to the first decade of the 21st century.
