IT and Museums: Historical documents to be digitized in Omsk to mark the bicentenary of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s birth

Preparations for celebrating the bicentenary of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s birth in Omsk will include inauguration of a new exhibition, digitization of historical documents and renovation of the literary museum, which is named after the writer.

The Commandant’s House, which was built in 1799, will be restored by 2021. The writer used to visit it during his exile. The Dostoyevsky Omsk State Literary Museum was opened here in 1983.

The exhibition timed to the birth anniversary will showcase 62 paintings - illustrations made by famous artists to Dostoyevsky’s works, which were recently donated to the Omsk museum on the instructions of Vladimir Medinsky, the Minister of Culture of Russia.
