Year of Theatre in Russia 2019: The Russian Museum of Photography presents the exhibition “Theatre Pages. The 19th Century” in Nizhny Novgorod

The Russian Museum of Photography presents the exhibition based on its collections “Theatre Pages. The 19th Century” that will take place October 15 – 23, 2019 in Nizhny Novgorod as part of the 9th Russian Gorky Festival “Early 20th and 21st Centuries”.

The exposition features about 40 photographs, including works of famous photographers of the 19th century, such as Maxim Dmitriyev and Karl Fischer. In 1892 K. Fischer became “the photographer of imperial theatres”. He made portraits of celebrated theatre professionals of that time: M. N. Yermolova, I. M. Moskvin, V. E. Meyerhold.
