History and Culture: Manuscripts of famous scholars and cultural figures to be put on display at the National Library of Russia

On December 5, 2019 the National Library of Russia (Manuscripts Department) in St. Petersburg is presenting the exhibition “Platon Waxell and His Collection”.

The exhibition marks the centenary of the death of the collector and music critic Platon Waxell (1844-1919). Platon Waxell was a graduate of Leipzig University (Doctor of International Law), worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was a permanent staff member of Journal de St.-Petersbourg newspaper, prominent member of the Russian Musical Society, and full member of the Academy of Arts.
