Internet and History: Western Illinois University Archive launched an online Abraham Lincoln Publications collection
Marking President Abraham Lincoln's birthday, the University of Western Illinois (USA) Archive launched the online Lincoln Publications collection.
Most of the documents in the collection are in the public domain if the "Rights" field contains the other.
Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States of America from 1861 until his assassination at the Ford Theater in 1865. Lincoln is well known for issuing the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, which led to the abolition of slavery in the United States.
The collection includes such rare publications as "Life and Public Services of Abraham Lincoln", "Political Debates Between Lincoln and Douglas", "Menard-Salem Lincoln Souvenir Album", "Lincoln in Caricature" (1903 and 1945) and "Abraham Lincoln as Attorney for the Illinois Central Railway Company".
