Marking the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory: “Weapons of the Great Victory” exhibition opened in Saint-Petersburg
February 21, 2020, the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps (Saint-Petersburg) opened the exhibition “Weapons of the Great Victory” on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day. It will become one of the main museum’s exhibition projects marking the 75th anniversary Great Victory. It presents the richest weapons collection of the countries-participants in World War II. The unique weapons collection of the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps is one of the largest in the world and the largest in Russia.
The great exhibition section presents weapons of the Red Army and the countries of the anti-Hitler coalition (the UK, the USA, France, etc.). It is focusing on small arms.
The exhibition also showcases samples of weapons of Germany and the Axis powers states (Italy, Finland, Hungary, Romania, Japan, etc.).
It features various mortars, cold arms, and protective means as well as uniform and equipment of different countries.
The special attention is paid to a unique collection of memorial and rare items. The paintings and rare photographs of the Great Patriotic War demonstrate how that weapon was used in a frontline.
The exhibition will run until the end of the year.
