History and Culture: The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve presented a restored bridal crown of the XIX century at the exhibition and online

An exhibition from the series "Restorer's Profession" was opened in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. It showcases an exhibit of the XIX century - "Wedding crown", restored by S. G. Borshneva, a specialist of the Vologda branch of the I. E. Grabar's All-Russian Art Scientific and Restoration Center.

The crown is made of sheets of brass using the metal stamping technique. It is made up of several segments connected with rivetings. The top of the crown is a cross. The details of the crown are painted in two main colors: the base and crown are yellow brass, decorative patterns and cross are black. The crown body has four enamel pieces.

The restoration work included mechanical and chemical cleaning, silvering restoration at the places of loss, cleaning and strengthening of enamels, tinting, conservation and matting of the surface.

The destruction processes were stopped as a result of the taken measures, the item was prepared for exposition.
