Internet and History: "Russian Archives" portal launched an information project devoted to the history of the Russian Constitution

4 July 2020

The "Russian Archives" portal launched an electronic information project "Constitutional History of Russia in Print and Archival Documents". It was arranged by the Library of the Presidential Executive Office and the Federal Archival Agency of the Russian Federation. Most of the materials for the project, including historical documents signed by statesmen and rare editions, were provided by the State Archives of the Russian Federation and other federal archives.

It presents the unique evidence that highlights the ways and fates of Russian constitutionalism. The resource releases full texts of books and documents featuring Russian constitutional ideas and projects of the XVIII-XIX centuries, the development of constitutionalism at the beginning of the XX century, the preparation of the fundamental laws in the USSR and Russian constitutional history.

Thus, the State Archives of the Russian Federation presents the constitutional projects of the Decembrists; the report of Count Mikhail Loris-Melikov to Emperor Alexander II on the development of a Constitutional Project; fundamental state laws of the Russian Empire with a resolution of Nicholas II; Soviet Constitutions; the Declaration and Treaty on the Creation of the USSR and other documents.
