Society and Culture: Exhibition of lithographs "Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. "Paris, Paris..." opened in the Simferopol Art Museum

11 July 2020

The exhibition of lithographs "Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. "Paris, Paris..." was opened in the exhibition halls of the Simferopol Art Museum. The exposition features 52 lithographs of the famous French artist from private European collections. Posters of the legendary Paris institutions, portraits of dancers and cabaret artists, sketches of the everyday life of Parisians, as well as episodes from the "circus" series by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec provide the atmosphere of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries.

Lautrec was an artist-innovator. His works unite the lightness and richness of the impressionism colouring with the clear-cut lines of Japanese engraving. The technique of lithography attracted him with the direct work with colour and texture. He interested into the genre of an advertising poster because of the plenty of plots and techniques of composition. He created more than 350 lithographs. Some of his works considered the masterpieces of the poster and lithograph art.

The exhibition will run until August 30.
