History of Moscow: New navigation signposts with QR codes to appear in the capital September 7, 2020
In 2021, new navigation signposts with QR codes will appear in the capital, announced the Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
"Next year, we plan to add QR codes to several hundred city signposts indicating the way to houses associated with the history and heroes of the war," said the Moscow mayor.
He stated that this project is not extensive but very vital. It serves to preserve the historical memory of the people's heroism during the Great Patriotic War.
19 "smart" plates with QR codes were placed on Moscow streets this year. They indicate the way to the Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Hill and the houses where the marshals - the commanders of the Great Patriotic War, lived.
The reading of the QR code with the smartphone camera allows loading a page providing routes to the marshal's house, as well as his brief biography.
This project received a lot of favourable reviews and was highly appreciated by veterans and public organizations.
