World History and Culture: "Pilgrimage Relics. XVI - Early XX Century" exhibition presented in Moscow

The Andrei Rublev Central Museum of Ancient Russian Culture and Art (Moscow) hosts an exhibition "Pilgrimage Relics. Holy Land, Athos, Russia. XVI - Early XX Century ".

The exhibition presents artworks that pilgrims brought from sacred places. There are personal religious objects, which were especially treasured and passed on from generation to generation. They are of various materials: stone, wood, bone, pearl, metal, etc. Many of them have dedications and memorable inscriptions.

The exposition is arranged according to the geographical principle. Icons and carved items from Athos and the Holy Land attract major attention. They all are of different technique and materials, style and art manner, level of professionalism of the authors and masters. These works give an idea of ​​the incredible variety of memorial relics that the pilgrims brought home.

The exhibition will run until October 2, 2020.
