The Peter and Paul Fortress in Saint-Petersburg restored plaques with water levels of the most harmful floods in the city.

First "chronicle of Saint-Petersburg floods" under the arch of the Neva Gate appeared in the XVIII century. But most of the plaques of that time have not survived. New commemorative plaques were made in the late 1970s. Their restoration began in 2006. Now it has been finished. The water levels plaques about the floods of 1924 and 1975 came back to their places. They returned the historical colouring of the water level lines. Also, the depth gauge was restored.

"In 1715, a real depth gauge was placed here. It served for studying the water level rise rating in the Neva River. The history of the Saint-Petersburg floods originates from this place", said Marina Logunova, chief researcher of the State Museum of the History of Saint-Petersburg.
