Internet and Museums: #MoscowWithYou media platform launched an online tour of the Mikhail Bulgakov Museum

9 December 2020

#MoscowWithYou media platform provides a new video tour. Its participants will be guided through the general exposition of the Mikhail Bulgakov Museum. The virtual tour includes an excursion to the writer's office, living room, communal kitchen with the everyday life features of the 1920s, as well as the staircase walls covered with graffiti by lovers of the classic of Russian literature.

The museum occupies apartment No. 50 at 10 Bolshaya Sadovaya Street. In these rooms, Mikhail Bulgakov moved in the autumn of 1921. He lived in this communal apartment for three years and wrote his first Moscow works, including the novel The White Guard. Probably, it was apartment No. 50 that became the prototype of the "bad" flat in the house 302-bis from the novel The Master and Margarita.

Online tour users will visit the so-called blue study. It is a reconstruction of Bulgakov's room, where he worked in the last years of his life. It was in a house in Nashchokinskiy lane. Although the building was destroyed, some pieces of furniture from the writer's study survived, for example, the secretaire - his working place when he created The Master and Margarita. Experts used the memories of the classic's relatives and close friends while restoring a study in the museum on Bolshaya Sadovaya.

The guide will also show the living room in the former communal apartment No. 50. The writer lived and worked there from 1921 to 1924. From that time to the present day, some of the original interior and household items have survived, including a lampshade and a piano with printed music of the opera Faust by Charles Gounod. Bulgakov was very fond of this work.

Internet users will also visit the communal kitchen. In the 1920s, lots of people always gathered here, forced to share a small area.

Besides, an online tour will reveal the danger of a primus, show fragments of Soviet newspapers of the 1920s and the hall with graffiti by the writer's fans.
