Museums of Russia: Exhibition "Valentin Serov. Collection of the State Russian Museum" presented in Yaroslavl

5 January 2021

The exhibition "Valentin Serov. Collection of the State Russian Museum" will run at the Yaroslavl Art Museum until March 9, 2021. For the first time, Yaroslavl hosts more than 50 works by Valentin Serov, an outstanding Russian artist. The exhibition reflects 30 years of the master's creative activity.

Valentin Serov was talented in all the topics, but the portrait genre brought him fame and a reputation as an author of sharp characteristics and a keen analyst. The exhibition features graphic portraits of Savva Mamontov, Valentina Serova (the artist's mother), Lev Bakst, Ilya Repin, Anna Benois (wife of Alexander Benois). They demonstrate Serov's ability to convey the character of his model with several dashes of the brush, pen or pencil.
